So far we have talked about everything that goes into a portrait experience. We are calling it an experience because that is exactly what it has been. You have been able to help create a photoshoot that you envisioned. You've had help along the way with make-up, hair clothing & location. You arrived at your session styled to the nines, in a great mood and ready to have some fun. The session went by quick, we sang, we talked, we laughed.
And now it's over. Now what?
At the end of your session, as we are walking back to the car, I will quickly go over what we have already discussed weeks ago - that for the next two-three weeks, I will be working on perfecting your images. When I am just about done, I will send you an e-mail with a few date choices to set up your Reveal and Ordering Session date and time. If you are in the area, the Reveal will be in my office. If you live a while away, we will meet in between And we will do the same as we did when we met the first time - eat.
Once we decide on a date and time, I will re-send the product and pricing guide to you. You should have an idea of what you are looking for already (because we've already talked about it) be it albums, prints, acrylics, metals, videos..(you get the idea). By the time you get to your Reveal and Ordering Session, you should be fully prepared to choose your images and place your order. But more importantly than that, you should be prepared to feel. Sometimes there are tears (parents seeing their babies growing up), sometimes reminiscing of funny things that happened during our day together and always laughter.
Reveal and Ordering Sessions usually last about an hour but we take as much time as you need. I will show you a slideshow of your fully edited images first and then we go one by one to narrow down your favorites. From those favorites, you decide what you will place to order.
Now, I'm probably going to get myself in trouble here but if you know me, you know I am pretty transparent. During your Reveal, I just kind of sit back and push buttons. I give my opinion if you ask for it but it is important to me that the choices and decisions are yours. I want you to walk away from this experience knowing that every image you loved and the choice you made were truly yours! I never want people to second guess or have buyers remorse because they felt they were talked into something or felt pressure to spend more than you intended. I will always tell my clients that the first obligation is to get what you NEED. You will never hear me trying to "sell" you on anything. I need to look myself in the mirror at the end of the day and if I knew I pressured someone into spending more than they could, I would feel dirty. This is an EXPERIENCE!! It is YOUR experience. We aren't going to ruin it with a sales pitch.
Now, let's get back on topic.
Depending on what you order (and what day we order on), I normally have your product in your hand in about a week, wrapped up with a pretty bow.
That's it! We have gone over everything from the beginning to the end. I hope that this has left you feeling a little more empowered and with a little more knowledge about the flow of a session. And if nothing else, I hope it provides you some insight into what a full-service photographer offers AND if it is something for you. Now, let me leave you with the small print -
Not every photographer/photography business is the same. What you have read in this series is what I do as a full-service photographer. If you work with another photographer, please expect there to be differences (not right or wrong, just different) because we are not the same people.
I really wish I could insert my little shrugging emoji here.
Until next week, keep being you!
With love,
Tonia
